Thrive in 3: Less Optimising. More Living. #56
Use your pause for tea to notice your progress...
01: Pause for tea to notice your progress…
There’s a point where the pursuit of growth stops moving us forward.
We set goals, track habits, measure progress.
Then one day, we realise we’re mostly measuring what we haven’t done.
I found myself constantly fixing, upgrading, refining...
but rarely acknowledging what was already working.
Or who I had already become.
That’s one of the quiet pitfalls of self-improvement:
It can keep us so busy optimising, we forget to live inside the change.
Now, when I feel that tightening...
that urge to optimise my way out of discomfort...
I make tea.
Not to escape.
But to notice.
To see what’s already changed that I haven’t given credit to.
Most of the time, I realise I’m not stuck.
I just haven’t paused long enough to recognise the shift.
Try that.
Instead of fixing something today, make tea.
Take three minutes to name what’s already true.
Call it progress.
Not a project.
